With a humid climate and rainfall almost year round, Frankfurt is a pleasant place to visit only if visitors are prepared. Temperatures are the highest in summer at 24 degrees Celsius around August. The coldest temperature occurs in January when it is usually -2 degrees Celsius.

Summers in Frankfurt are usually quite warm with occasional showers. Temperatures range from 10 to 30 degrees Celsius in summer, with the hottest month in July. Precipitation is also generally the highest in summer, at around 70mm of rainfall.  It would be advisable for people to wear light clothes during this time and bring an umbrella to prevent sudden rainfalls from dampening their spirits.

Winters in Frankfurt are, like other parts of Germany, very cold. The gloomy, overcast sky may be depressing but it is the time where traditional Christmas markets light up the streets. January is the coldest month when temperature plummets to a freezing point. There may be occasional sleet showers and thunderstorms.  Therefore, it is advisable to get comfortable winter clothing, good walking shoes to tread through the snow, gloves and hat to prevent potential heat loss from the fingers and head respectively. Plus, a scarf could protect one well from the chilling winter winds. In recent years, winters have become colder and more extreme, possibly due to climate change. Therefore, it is of utmost importance that one is appropriately attired before heading to Frankfurt in the freezing cold. It is also important to note that during winter, there may be road disruptions and flight delays at the busy Frankfurt airport, owing to the snow that cover the roads, vehicles and aircrafts.

The best time to visit Frankfurt is during late spring or early autumn. Summers are generally avoided because of the heat and rain, while winters are way too cold. However, despite the cold the people do not mind visiting Frankfurt to soak up the festivities during Christmas.
