Flights to Germany
Information on flights to Germany…
Arriving by air is easy in Germany, because the country is served by many airports including Frankfurt am Main, Munich and Düsseldorf, from where connecting flights can be made to other German cities. The country’s national airline is Lufthansa, which operates international and domestic flights.
Other airlines such as British Airways also offer regular flights to Germany from London Heathrow and Gatwick airports. For the United States, direct flights to Germany are available in major cities such as New York, Washington DC, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles. AirCanada offers regular connecting flights from Toronto to Frankfurt as well.
The other domestic flight carriers in Germany include Air Berlin and German Wings. They offer cheaper flights at affordable rates and air links to smaller airports in Germany, such as Augsburg and Dortmund.
Airfares can vary in cost depending on the time. Promotional offers may be available for students and passengers under the age of 26. Discounted fare is often offered by low-cost carriers and discount agents. The cheapest scheduled ticket is an APEX which requires advanced booking and allows a stay over a Saturday night in Germany and a fixed return date.
The largest international airports are the ones in Frankfurt and Munich. The Frankfurt Airport is connected by an express train, making trips to the city fast and convenient.
Passengers can indulge in fine dining at the variety of decent bars and cafes in Frankfurt Airport, including Hermann’s, Manzana, and Liquid Lounge. They may also shop at the Airport City Mall. Money exchange facilities and a dry cleaner are available too.
The Munich Airport is smaller but just as comprehensive. Visitors can access the city easily via the Airport-Bus from the airport every 20 minutes. The new Berlin Brandenburg International Airport is set to open soon and will cater to many international passengers as well.
