About Augsburg Tour
After a peaceful train excursion from Munich to Augsburg, you’ll be given an hour and half to walk through the historic town center. Augsburg was founded by Emperor Augustus in 15BC and is considered to be one of the oldest cities in Europe. With the help of your knowledgeable guide, you will learn many things about the history of this small town from the undulation of the Roman Empire through the Renaissance and the Reformation.
During your Augsburg tour, you’ll take a look at the memories of Renaissance by visiting the Renaissance town hall with its ever popular Golden Hall. The hall got its name from its sumptuous, gold-plated ceiling, made even more impressive by the abstract artwork that ornaments the walls beneath it. Other attractions that you will see in Augsburg are WWII bomb shelter, the eye-catching Augsburg Cathedral and the Fuggerei, the world’s oldest public lodging complex.
Your trip will continue with additional 3 hours of independent sightseeing. This is your time to visit the sites you wanted to go back to but with an extra entrance fee. Your guide will present to you tips about the old buildings, ancient architecture, museums and churches.
You’ll be returning to Munich early in the evening via train.
